Yes, my Dad took me. It was heartbreaking….another early life lesson for me… magic doesn’t always just appear when you would like for it to. What a great team that was!

Man in the middle is Bob Davis. I listened to the game on KCRS radio. You could hear the rims clank when the ball hit them.

My Brother-in – law, Dick Campbell, was on this outstanding team also.
He left MHS to play basketball at Oklahoma University. He was a shorter
    member of the team……only 6’4″!

Yes, this is definitely the 59-60 team who went 30-1. I will always remember listening to this game on radio and being devastated by the loss. We did have a slight redemption in 60-61 beating Borger at home…..

One of the things I have ALWAYS remembered was when I, an underclassman, was sitting in the stands and watching one of the games when the team with the Mikes (Humprey and Marsh) was so incredibly good. A guard on the visiting team had the ball on the right side just past the center court line in our MHS gym. He launched a shot that went over and through the rafters without touching anything, banked off the backboard, and swished the net. It was breathtaking…all for just two points in those days.

The next day at practice, I and some others began attempting to make that shot. And, yes, I finally was able to replicate the shot with all net. Amazing!

Who would have thought that could be possible!?!

Being a swimmer I missed so much. This book has been a true blessing. Thank you Pete.
